Quadros, Jânio da Silva
(25 ene. 1917, Campo Grande, Mato Grosso, Brasil–16 feb. 1992, São Paulo).

Presidente de Brasil (1961). Populista excéntrico y pintoresco, hizo campaña con una escoba para dramatizar su compromiso de "barrer la corrupción En sus siete meses como presidente, prohibió el traje de baño biquini y las peleas de gallos, restableció relaciones con la Unión Soviética, condecoró al Che Guevara y se negó a apoyar a EE.UU. en la invasión de bahía de Cochinos en Cuba. Atribuyó su súbita renuncia a que "fuerzas terribles conspiraban en su contra. Sin derechos políticos y exiliado en 1968, se le concedió la amnistía en 1980 y regresó a servir durante dos períodos como alcalde de São Paulo.
